How Long Should a Website Redesign Take? A Realistic Timeline — article illustration

There's no single right answer, but there is a realistic range — and a quote that's dramatically faster than that range is usually cutting a corner somewhere, even if it isn't obvious upfront.

Discovery and planning: roughly 1-2 weeks

Understanding the business, the audience, and what the current site is actually failing to do takes real time. Skipping straight to design without this step is how redesigns end up looking better but converting the same or worse.

Design and content: roughly 2-4 weeks

Wireframes, visual design, and copywriting happen in parallel where possible, but content in particular is often the actual bottleneck — a design can't be finalized around copy that doesn't exist yet.

Build and integration: roughly 2-5 weeks depending on scope

A marketing site with a few pages moves faster than one with e-commerce, custom forms, CRM integration, or a content management system layered in. Scope, not just page count, is what actually drives this timeline.

Testing and launch: roughly 1 week, and don't skip it

Cross-browser and mobile testing, form testing, and a staging review before going live catches the kind of bugs that otherwise show up in front of real visitors — and real leads — in the first week after launch.
